This is my Season.

"I know that there is nothing better for [me] than to rejoice and to do good in [my] lifetime; moreover that every man who eats and drinks sees good in all his labor-- it is the gift of God."

House Rules

What are your house rules?

I'm making an attempt to set up some basic simple manners/ house rules so that our dinners don't sound like feeding time at the zoo and quiet time is actually quiet.

Can you help me think of practical fun ideas?

I guess getting a sitter & you & Darry going out isn't what you are looking for??
Gotta believe with four young kids & a fun Mom & Dad like you guys, it's always gonna be a 'zoo' around your table.
Maybe set up a game where no one talks while getting things on the table. The one who talks has to wait until everyone else has taken a bite? You could have fun dragging out the first bite thing.
Of course, the food better be to their liking...you kids would have talked up a storm if you didn't like the fixin's! :o)

Quiet Game Rocks. plain and simple.
No "rude" noises @ the table.

Our lil tradition is every night, we go around the table and "talk about our days". Someone starts and then they choose the next person to share. We allow "a pass" for each person (cause sometimes the day doesn't need to be revisited, can I get an AMEN?). The kids love it and we feel like its setting them up for good communication in the future.

You were just looking for table manners, right? Cause I've got a whole 'nother can to open if you wanna talk.

I have used a timer in the past. It especially helps with homework although your little ones may not be in school it is a great tool to help motivate in cleaning a room reading a book and completing homework set it for how ever old they are like 3min for 3yrs old thats how long they have to pick up. I hope you find this useful My boys did very well with this.

ok no "bottom burping" is an absolute . . . and no grazing off the floor. Is that enough for now...is that a good start?
