This is my Season.

"I know that there is nothing better for [me] than to rejoice and to do good in [my] lifetime; moreover that every man who eats and drinks sees good in all his labor-- it is the gift of God."

Ecclesiastes 3:12-13

Birds and Cars

A friend of mine reminded me of this event that happened last year.
I went shopping with three of my kids. At this time they were 3 years, 2 years, and 8 months. My first mistake was to go to a store that had single seat shopping carts. We safely make it out of the car. I'm holding my baby and some one's hand while we shuffle across the parking lot. I scoot the boys ahead of me to sit against the wall while I put the baby into the cart. As I'm strapping her in a bird flies right past us and lands in the street. Do you think my 2 year old stayed put? Oh no! He darts out for the bird!
"Stop" I yelled. He stops at the curb just as a car slows down. Whew. Danger adverted.
The car isn't moving on. "What?" I think. "I got him, no worries."
Just then I straighten up from scolding him and see my cart, with daughter strapped in, rolling over the curb into the street! AUGHHHHHHHH! I believe it took one step to sit my boy back on the wall and grab her at the same time.
As I compose myself, a lady who was watching this whole scene unfold, dares to say "You've got your hands full!"

Next time (?!!) sit the boys in that chewed gum that people spit on the sidewalk...maybe they won't be able to get up.
