This is my Season.

"I know that there is nothing better for [me] than to rejoice and to do good in [my] lifetime; moreover that every man who eats and drinks sees good in all his labor-- it is the gift of God."

Ecclesiastes 3:12-13

What have you learned?

Children can teach us so many things. These are a few things I have learned from my kids TODAY:

1. When installing new carpet make sure it is the color of your coffee. Most juice, dirt from outside, milk, dinner, and your "venti iced coffee, unsweetened" will blend right into the carpet. You won't even know it's there until you step on it in your socks!

2. Little children, no bigger than my arm, can create 3 baskets of laundry even though I am the one getting spit up on, pooped on, and used as a tissue.

3. All the toys piled in one big mound about 2 hours after being put away is a great patience builder!

4. There is a point when the children are quiet that it is not a good thing. Usually that is the quiet before the storm!

5. A newborn's poop defies gravity. How does it end up on his shoulder?

Let's see... yesterday I learned that a towel can indeed catch on fire when a 7 year old puts it on top of a bathroom light fixture. Everyday day brings new knowledge in interesting forms doesn't it?? And I agree, newborn poop does some amazing things!!!

i learned that if you don't put a pull-up on your child immediately, you will find a pile of "something" on your floor.

i hear you on the pile of toys. i think the longest they've lasted in their boxes around here is 20 minutes (provided there's no current trouble to get into)...

11 month olds are adept at climbing moving boxes, even when they can just barely toddle ten steps without plopping on their behinds...

and $100 butterfly top trash cans are *no* deterrent for intelligent two and a half yearolds.

and on newborn poop... charis was ambitious. she always impressed me with her sideways pooping skills, but one time, she managed to poop out the front of her diaper, and then squirted it up her side without touching the main part of the diaper... i'm still mystified as to how she managed it, and i don't think i'll find out until we're in glory.

I don't think I'll comment on this one . . . it's going down the slippery slope of . . . well, you know. -LeighAnn
