This is my Season.

"I know that there is nothing better for [me] than to rejoice and to do good in [my] lifetime; moreover that every man who eats and drinks sees good in all his labor-- it is the gift of God."

Ecclesiastes 3:12-13

Surgery

OK who does not jump at the opportunity to go have a manicure and pedicure done with your sister and a friend? Just mommies, no kids, a little pampering, and some catch up time with your sister!! It was a spontaneous idea that we all heartily agreed to do.
I take my shoes off, roll up my pants, realize I didn't shave (oh well), and sit in the relaxing massaging chair. One lady is working on my toes another on my fingers. What a life!! Could this get any better? Ummm.. no. It got worse. Toe lady is digging into my nail bed determined to rip out my in- grown toenail. I had no idea I had one until she went on a mission. I'm cringing at every swipe of the machete. She gracefully looks up and asks "Do you want me to stop?" My foot is now numb with pain so why stop? Hoepfully, my insurance will cover this. The nail is half way out... keep going! Five minutes later the blood is wiped away and she asks if I want a hot oil massage. ABSOLUTELY!! About this time the finger lady accidentally jabs her metal tool into my nail. (My sister is laughing at me this whole time while she gets pretty little flowers painted on her nails!)
My fingers are looking pretty in pink when the toe lady begins to polish with red. Ooooo... I like that color. " How much is it to change polish color on my fingers?" I ask. That simple question sparks a long conversation in some language I can't understand, between three employees that includes pointing at me. Oops. Did I ask the wrong question? They graciously gave me a free polish change after discussing it thoroughly amongst themselves.
I walked out of the shop pretty pleased with the job despite the pain. Unfortunately, I smudged 2 nails getting into the car! I will let you know if a rash starts running up my leg!!
So, I ask again.... Who doesn't like a manicure and pediacure?

I am laughing so hard at your expense...thank you so much for a great laugh. I am Corinne's long time friend, Kadi. I have a house full as well, and your stories sound eerily(sp?) familiar!! God bless you for sharing your life's joys and blunders!

i recently went for a pedicure for the first time.. honestly, i didn't think it was worth the ~30 clams. it just wasn't that great.

and manicures.. well, a manicure i can do at home, and as for acrylics i don't have much use for them since i stopped biting my nails (which happened by the way of a season of wearing them consistently for work)...
